Spring Break 2009 Canoe Trip

Whats CANOE with YOU ? ?

Once again the fearless youth of the CREW have tackled the Mattaponi river . . . THIS TIME for 50 miles!

Last years 20 miler was just the START, and many in the crew have earned the 50 Miler award this year during their Spring Breaks

Check out the PICTURES HERE.

Many Thanks to those who supported us and made this trip Possible:

Sunday - Start point campsite, Locust Hill Farm in Caroline County, VA

Monday - campsite 1 (primitive) on propery in King William County, owned by Essex Concrete Corporation

Tuesday - campsite 2 -Zoar State Forrest, on the King William County side, at the Aylett VA Boat Ramp where we were helped by Ranger Ya-Ya and the nice folks from St Davids Episcopal Church, both helped us dry out clothes, sleeping bags, and tents.

Wednesday - campsite 3, Walkerton VA, on the King and Queen County of the river, where we stayed on private property by permisison of Mr. Carol Lee Walker of the Walkerton Corporation

Thursday - We visited the Mattaponi Indian Reservation, then returned to campsite 4 on the King and Queen County side of the river, at the permisison of Mr. Les Altman of the Rivers Edge Construction Co

Friday - reach the base camp, Heartquake Estates on the King and Queen side, at the permisison of the Vessels Family, and Mrs. Yolanda Madden (Ranger Ya Ya). There we were met by the great folks from the Coast Guard from USCG Station Milford Haven and Officer Chris Miller of the Virginia Marine Police
